Critical Film Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘ITTEFAQ SE’ by Euphoria Films (1st Review)

** Thanks to Euphoria Films for requesting us to review their new release. **

** Thanks to our reviewer Sonal Pokharna Nahar for reviewing the short film on behalf of Literoma. **

“Ittefaq se” is a short film Based on Reetwika Banerjee's micro story titled “Met him By Chance” from her debut book 'Fantastic 40'. It needs special mention that another short film titled “Adhura” is also based on a micro story titled “One rainy day” from the same book which has won two recognitions at international Film Festivals.

Screenplay of the movie 'Ittefaq Se' is well written, especially the poems. Some of them are really touchy, especially 'Zaroori nahi ki har rishtey ka koi naam ho'. However, too many modifications have been made to the original plot to make it more cinematic. But with the changes, the origional fervour and essence of the story have lost somewhere.

In the story Protagonist meets his favourite author whom he used to admire since childhood at a book fair. In the Short film, book fair is totally replaced by footpath outside an old library. Now, to an avid book lover, this grave change will definitely hurt at the core of his/her heart. Book fairs always hold a special corner to any reader which cannot be conveyed by a roadside meeting.

Also, in the short film, the writer comes walking straight to the lead actor with only three books in hand (no bags nothing), gives away all three of them and leaves. Amateur writers approaching buyers with books is a very common scene at any book fair but in the short film why the author came directly to the protagonist with just three books is not clear. Also after giving the books, he signs at the last page and leaves with head high which aired a bit of arrogance instead of feeling pity for the author.

The original short story portrayed a heart touching tribute to the unpopular yet good writers of our nation, but the short film somehow missed to capture the theme as beautifully as the story. However, if you watch the film keeping aside the story book, it will definitely be a good watch. All the scenes are evenly woven to leave an impact on viewer's mind. Director must be appreciated for bringing up the story in his own style. Dialogues are also effectively written to convey the plot.

Share of Credit also goes to the actors Anshuman Pushkar, Sonia Nagora and Director Abhijeet Sinha for his cameo. Abhijit did a great job with his realistic expressions as a struggling author, so did Anshuman. But the dialogue delivery of lead actress is not so impressive at all. Lots of noise could be heard at the background which shows lack of professional editing & sound mixing as well. Euphoria Films must pay attention to these minute yet important details in their next endeavours for a better viewing experience.

Overall, Literoma rates “Ittefaq se” 4*/5* and suggests as a must watch Short film for any age group. It is altogether a complete entertainment package beautifully crafted.
