Book Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘Harappa - 1: Lure of Soma’ by Dr. Shankar N Kashyap (7th Review)

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book. ** ‘The Lure of Soma’ is the first of the Harappa trilogy written by veteran surgeon Dr. Shankar N Kashyap. In this book Dr. Kashyap guides us through the ageold Harappan culture with minute details as much as authentic character namings, their contemporary social construct, mindset, usual happenings, expectations and so on. As a reader, you will never feel that you have not experienced Harappan society in real world. Over the last few years this genre of writing has gained immense momentum and quite a few attempts have been made by handful of authors and filmm akers. However, only few of them could live up to the expectation of the readers. Dr. Kashyap's book somehow relates closely to a recently released title 'Harappa - Curse of the Blood River' by Mr. Vineet Bajpai. However, their distinct storylines define the respective courses. However, it points towards increasing focus on the topic for sure. D

Book Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘Harappa - 3: Battle of Ten Kings’ by Dr. Shankar N Kashyap (6th Review)

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer Sabyasachi Mukherjee for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. ** 'Dasharajna - The Battle of 10 Kings' is the third and final book of the Harappa Trilogy series by Dr. Kashyap. The reality has been beautifully molded to a totally different story with help of Author's research on Harrapan Civilization, interpretation of Rigveda and also to some extent celluloid adaptation of the Age. This part flags off with the well-known rivalry and battle between Sage Vashishta and Sage Vishwamitra over Kamdhenu. Author in his own captivating manner goes on to tell the story of an epic battle between Sudas of Bharatas and Cayamana of Anus leading the confederacy of ten disgruntled kings. Every scene of the book is well written and the author has done a fabulous justice to the length of the book in that term. The battle scene at the sage’s hermitage, to the forest scene or the scen

Book Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘Harappa - 1: Lure of Soma’ by Dr. Shankar N Kashyap (5th Review)

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer TK Mukherjee for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. ** ‘The lure of Soma’ is the first of the Harappa trilogy written by veteran author Shankar Kashyap. It’s based on the history of ancient Indus Valley Civilization. However, the characters built and the events described are based on author’s imagination. All throughout the book, the work of imagination gets boosted by the author’s vast knowledge of history and literature surrounding the Vedic ages and ancient inhabitations at the Indus belt. That exclusive knowledge makes the novel look really authentic. Attempting a topic like this is a challenging choice in itself and Mr. Kashyap had pulled it off brilliantly. What sets the book apart from other books of the same genre is the amount of detailing in terms of description, characterization and scene setting. The description part makes this book a must read for both the history l

Book Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘FANTASTIC 40’ by Reetwika Banerjee (2nd Review)

** Thanks to author for sharing a review copy of the book. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer Sonal Pokharna Nahar for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. ** ‘Fantastic 40’ by Reetwika Banerjee is a collection of 40 Micro stories based on different subjects which touch different facades of life. These stories are so compact that any reader can read it in one breath. It needs special mention that the Micro story concept is a National record by Author and will soon appear in world records. Each story in the book has its own beauty. Subject of each story is so beautifully presented that it leaves an impact on reader's mind. I have to mention three stories which outstood for me, those are, “My lost Note”, “Met her on Board” and “Met him by chance”. 'My lost note’ is a story of a boy who kept his note in another book and doubted his friend from bias he had in his mind. ‘Met on her board’ is a story of two people who loved each other but couldn’t tell and met after 10yrs in

Book Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘Harappa - 2: Fall of Shuruppak’ by Dr. Shankar N Kashyap (4th Review)

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer TK Mukherjee for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. ** ‘The fall of Shuruppak’ perfectly lives up to the expectation set by Dr. Shankar Kashyap with his first book of the Harappa trilogy – ‘The lure of Soma’. The book sets off exactly where ‘The lure of Soma’ ended. This time, the protagonist Upashantha is joined by his wife Lopa, Parthava and Elaamite Prince Shushan in his journey. The journey is narrated and described so elegantly that the reader is bound to fall in love with it without caring too much about the end of it. This is a journey to explore and experience truth. Mr. Kashyap’s brilliance once again ensured the reader becomes a part of this bunch of explorers. If not for anything else, every reader must give this book a try for the quest it depicts. As a part of the quest, the book takes the readers through fights against mythical demons, journey across unknown land

Critical Film Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘ITTEFAQ SE’ by Euphoria Films (1st Review)

** Thanks to Euphoria Films for requesting us to review their new release. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer Sonal Pokharna Nahar for reviewing the short film on behalf of Literoma. ** “Ittefaq se” is a short film Based on Reetwika Banerjee's micro story titled “Met him By Chance” from her debut book 'Fantastic 40'. It needs special mention that another short film titled “Adhura” is also based on a micro story titled “One rainy day” from the same book which has won two recognitions at international Film Festivals. Screenplay of the movie 'Ittefaq Se' is well written, especially the poems. Some of them are really touchy, especially 'Zaroori nahi ki har rishtey ka koi naam ho'. However, too many modifications have been made to the original plot to make it more cinematic. But with the changes, the origional fervour and essence of the story have lost somewhere. In the story Protagonist meets his favourite author whom he used to admire since childhood at a bo

Book Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘Harappa - 3: Battle of Ten Kings’ by Dr. Shankar N Kashyap (3rd Review)

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer TK Mukherjee for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. ** ‘Harappa 3: Battle of Ten Kings’ provides a fitting end to the Harappa trilogy written by eminent medico Mr. Shankar Kashyap. The platform of the book is set based on the sixth book of Rigveda. It’s a gigantic task in itself to reconstruct the episode of Rigveda in this modern arena. Mr. Kashyap not only succeeded in doing it elegantly but also did it with full justice. He was successful to continue the class he had created in two of his earlier books – ‘The lure of Soma’ and ‘The fall of Shuruppak’ from the same trilogy. Every chapter of the book showcases the amount of research that had gone into it. The best part of the book is where the episodes of Rigveda are discussed. They are indeed well and truly assimilated by Mr. Kashyap and that’s where a reader will bound to get a feel of a guided tour of the Harappan Civilizati

Book Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘FANTASTIC 40’ by Reetwika Banerjee (1st Review)

** Thanks to author for sharing a review copy of the book. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer TK Mukherjee for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. ** The best part of the book is its concept - Micro Story (shorter than a short story) which is a national record created by the author. From a reader's perspective, 'Fantastic 40' caters to the need of a modern reader. Each of the 40 micro stories are like a single shot of tequila. The complete book gives you a chance to enjoy 40 refreshing shots and in the end creates a hangover in its own right. The book has stories on some hard realities and also on some fantasy stuffs making it a true fantastic read. It was really a very promising debut book by the author. However it is definitely not the best book from the author's shelf. Couple of the micro stories from this book have been turned into short films by Euphoria Films. I am lucky to have reviewed both the films. Overall, Literoma rates this book 4*/5* and recomm

Book Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘ZENOVA 20’ by Reetwika Banerjee (3rd Review)

It contains 20 crispy short stories, written in simple English- mostly encompassing the nine human emotions (nava ras) enthralled through our five senses. Though a work of fiction, the readers would be easily able to relate themselves with many of the characters depicted in the stories. Target readers will mostly aim young adults, however, it will also attract anyone who enjoys perspective based plots, supernatural orientations, social enlightenments, periodic milieus, nature’s bounties, touch of thrills and sweet love stories. THE TITLE:- Friendship means a lot to us. Friends bring balance to our

Film Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘Hello Mamma’ by Euphoria Films (3rd Review)

** Thanks to Euphoria Films for requesting us to review their new release. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer Vishal Ahlawat for reviewing the short film on behalf of Literoma. ** Film Presentation:- “Hello Mamma” is a mobile short film in social awareness genre which talks about fight against depression of modern womanhood. Screenplay presents the issue so effectively that it leaves a permanent impact on viewer's mind. Equal credit of addition to the glory of film should be given to the actors Anupama Negi and Vineeth MV. Anupama Negi plays lead role of the North Indian girl working in private sector far from home in South India. Vineeth MV plays the role of local South Indian boy, who is travelling in an office cab, where the whole story is narrated. Along with screenplay and acting, Dialogues also play a very vital role in making a film successful. The original story being written in a conversational note, there not have been much changes in the Dialogues of the film. In f

Book Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘Harappa - 1: Lure of Soma’ by Dr. Shankar N Kashyap (1st Review)

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer Sayan Basak for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. ** Indus Valley Civilization (also called IVC) was the Bronze Age Civilization which existed between 3300-1300 BC while it enjoyed the matured period between 2600-1900 BC. The author from Upashantha perspective proves a very beautiful fact that Fiction is written with reality and reality is written with fiction. We can write fiction because there is reality and we can write reality because there is fiction; everything we consider today to be myth and legend, our ancestors believed to be history and everything in our history includes myths and legends. Before the splendid modern-day mind was formed our cultures and civilizations were conceived in the wombs of, and born of, what we identify today as "fiction, unreality, myth, legend, fantasy, folklore, imaginations, fabrications and tall tales." And in our suddenly realize

Book Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: "Ramayana - Stand Strong" by Shubha Vilas

** Thanks to author Shubha Vilas for gifting us a review copy of the book.** The tradition of re-telling Ramayana is almost as old as the epic itself. Author Shubha Vilas not only attempted it but did a decent job while doing so. ‘Ramayana - Stand Strong’ is the fourth book in the series written by the author. Hopefully the previous books of the series were also as engrossing as this one. The book takes a very close look at one of the most critical episodes of Ramayana – Kishkindha Kanda. The narrative begins with the meeting of Sugriva and Hanumana – two of the most pivotal characters of Ramayana. The author is to be congratulated for providing the right amount of focus on the great Hanuamana. The writing style of the author makes it easier to read through. However, one point where the publisher and the author should ponder is how to create a mass appeal for this kind of a communication product as it will not be very easy for them to market the book to a greater audience. Also,

Film Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘Hello Mamma’ by Euphoria Films (2nd Review)

** Thanks to Euphoria Films for requesting us to review their new release. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer Sayan Basak for reviewing the short film on behalf of Literoma. ** About the Plot:- The short film 'Hello Mamma' is based on Reetwika Banerjee’s original short story ‘Maa, Are You Listening’ published in 'Zenova20' book. The story of a mother-daughter relationship truly brings out the fact that probably there is nothing in human nature more resonant with charges than the flow of energy between two biologically alike bodies, one of which has lain in amniotic bliss inside the other, one of which has laboured to give birth to the other. The materials are here for the deepest mutuality and the most painful estrangement. The story questions its readers that “What do you think was the first sound to become a word, a meaning? I imagined two people without words, unable to speak to each other. I imagined the need: The colour of the sky that meant ‘storm.’ The smell of
