Book Review by #LITEROMA :: "Urmila" by Devi Raghuvanshi

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer Chitranshu Mandhar for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. ** Genre: Mythology/ Religion Every epic glorifies the main character hiding the valour and sacrifice of secondary characters. The author, Devi Raghuvanshi, has tried to bring up another side of Ramanaya. Sita and Rama are venerated for being ideal spouse and suffering so much for each-other. But this book suggests otherwise. It was Urmilla who suffered the most in the mythological epic Ramayana as she was not only separated from his beloved husband Lukshamana but also she has to look after the kingdom of Ayodhya in absence of prince Rama and Lakshamana. She confronted Rama when she sensed that he would be casting his wife Sita out of the place. Urmilla is portrait as a lady of strong character and expert in various arts. I personally never thought that Ramanaya is more than just a story of Rama and Sita. This is the 12th

Book Review by #LITEROMA :: "Urmila" by Devi Raghuvanshi

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer Satabdi Mukherjee for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. ** Devi Raghuvanshi’s books have dealt with various human emotions and tend to revolve around the trials and tribulations of its woman protagonists. “Urmila” appears to be a maiden foray into mythology, and true to his style, Mr. Raghuvanshi has dealt with the Ramayana from Urmila’s (Laxman’s wife) point of view. Written in an extremely engaging manner, “Urmila” brings forth, in great detail, the inner thoughts of the women in our epics—who are limited to their roles as wives and mothers, despite possessing great intellect. The fact that women can also have a say in battle strategy and important matters is mostly brushed under the carpet in our patriarchal society. Mr. Raghuvanshi appears to have done extensive research in writing this book, which is evident from the rich variety of anecdotes and facts that he shares—from

Book Review by #LITEROMA :: "Urmila" by Devi Raghuvanshi

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. ** Urmila is quite an unexplored muthological lady with lots of shades in her character. She can be easily portrayed as an epitome of sacrifice, committment and selflessness but somehow she never earned that attention from the world. Raghuvanshi did a perfect justice to an unsung heroine like Urmila. The book cover is very captivating and conveys the feel of the book. It is highly recommended to all readers. Overall, would like to rate the book as 4*/5*. All the Literoma reviews are available at our page:- https://literomagroup.blogspot.com/

Book Review by #LITEROMA :: "Urmila" by Devi Raghuvanshi

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer Tee Kay for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. ** I loved the way the author has highlighted the secondary character Urmila from Indian epic Ramayana. For us, it is always Ram, Sita and Laxman, Hanuman and Ravan - that's where Ramayana circles around for us. But without Urmila's supreme sacrifices, would it have been possible for Ram to win the fight? Probably not. But her life always went behind the lights as her husband did never recognize her contributions to the society. In light of the epic, it also perhaps speaks a lot about the standing of common Indian households and family constructs which even today is to some extent is male dominated and male centered. Good to see the change coming from the pen of a male writer. I wish him all the best. The literary quality could have been slightly better but I must appreciate the efforts and thoughts exhibited by the senior

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer Kaushik Bose for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. ** This is author's 12th book and is definitely a great read. Did not know so many unknown facts about the protagonist though she is quite a known name in Valmiki's Ramayan. Urmila was Laxman's wife and Sita's sister but 14 years she went to a sleeping exile as Laxman had to be vigilant about Sita's security. The story starts with questioning about a young modern girl named Urmila and her interceptions with the life struggles of the epic lady. I enjoyed reading the ups and downs of both the ladies narrated by the author in a very interesting way. My rating of the book is 3.5*/5*. Book Review by #LITEROMA :: "I also slept with Rashmi Verma" by Love Thon

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a Kindle copy of the book for review. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. ** The book title tells a lot about its genre. Many may tag it as an Indian erotica, but I found it more of a spicy chick-lit type, ready to be adapted into a web series. The central character is Rashmi Verma and narrator is one of her former partner's roomie who too ends up sleeping with her after a prolongued eyeing phase. Interesting was his sleeping intent - not because he had a lust but he wanted to prove his confession true. The intermittent hindi dialects like 'harami', 'nagar vadhu' etc bring the right break at times. English is simple and fluent with hardly any tough words used. The writing style quite matches the contemporary contents. Visual descriptions could create the right blend of fantasy and imagination. The characterization of the narrator and other male snobbers were good but the protagoni

** Thanks to the author for sharing a review copy of the book.** ** Thanks to our reviewer Sneha Thakur for reviewing the book on behalf of #Literoma. Few of the poems like ," Bachpan" ," Bahan ke ahsas" " Wo maa hai" ar

Book Review by #LITEROMA :: "Mere Khayal" by Dr. Manisha Yadava

** Thanks to the author for sharing a review copy of the book.** ** Thanks to our reviewer Sneha Thakur for reviewing the book on behalf of #Literoma. ** This poetry  book by Manisha yadava is well crafted. The author tried to portray each emotion of a woman's mind and presented them through poetry. The poems are ranging from four liners to twenty liners but each one have their own meaning and importance . The poems that impressed me mostly are ,'Sadak', and few more couplets. They  have deep meaning and will left you thinking and make you reread it again and again. I'm her own words ," वक्त कम है और काम ज्यादा,करना है अभी नाम ज्यादा । I would rate it 4*/5*.
