Book Review by #LITEROMA :: "Golden Wings" by Srijoy Mitra

** Thanks to the author for sharing a review copy of the book.** ** Thanks to our reviewer Sneha Thakur for reviewing the book on behalf of #Literoma. ** Blurb Golden Wings is the story of a high school student named Anicetus, a boy in early teenage who aspires to be the best student like his father. His hardships towards success summarize the plot of this novel. My Take The cover of the book is Plain black and in which " Golden Wings" are written In bold letters ,which I like as it's always intriguing to see what's inside the book. I prefer cover of the books as less revealing about story as much possible. The story of the book is semi-dystopian that revolves around a boy named “Anicetus” and how his life shapes up . Like every teenager he had dreams and aspirations for his new school and future life. He get admission on CII (Central Intelligence Institute), which is portrayed as best school of city and he worked hard to pass the difficult admission test

Book Review by #LITEROMA :: "Lady in Red" by Dr. Shankar Kashyap

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book.** ** Thanks to our reviewer Chitranshu Mandhar for reviewing the book on behalf of #Literoma. ** Throughout the world, in all cultures, the colour RED is associated with joy, life, romance, love, fire, lust, desire, passion, seduction, energy, danger, strength, valour and sacrifice. The book LADY IN RED, which is collection of 45 love poems, is filled with all these emotions that a human enjoys in his lifetime. The book is amalgamation of different styles of poetry like villanelle, ode, ballads, acrostics, triolet, sonnets etc originated in different parts of worlds. There are several poems in the form of ghazals and rubaiyat which are Persian form of poetry; surprisingly I didn’t know that one can write ghazals in English language too. The poet, Shankar Kashyap, has exquisitely described the beauty of a muse and artist’s feelings towards her: "Two love birds watching us, jealous As we cuddled and kissed un

** Thanks to the author for sharing a review copy of the book.** ** Thanks to our reviewer Tee Kay for reviewing the book on behalf of #Literoma. ** Book: Golden Wings Author: Srijoy Mitra Publications: Literoma Format: Kindle/Paperback Genre: Fiction Pages: 263 Anicetus is a very interesting character I must say, not very commonly found amongst the Indian youth and Anicetus too is not an Indian. The shadow of young NRI novelist Srijoy is clearly visible in his protagonist and that is not absurd too. It seems like reader is taking the journey through author's eyes. I appreciate Srijoy's tenacity to pen down such a voluminous work of fiction. There are do some gaps which I think is quite natural keeping in mind the age of author and the width of the piece. In his next titles, Srijoy may think of restricting the plots within 150 odd pages for an easier reading as well as writing experience. However, setting vivid plots, multidimensional characters, versatality of cl

Book Review by #LITEROMA :: "Lady in Red" by Dr. Shankar Kashyap

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book.** ** Thanks to our reviewer Tee Kay for reviewing the book on behalf of #Literoma. ** The soulful touch of this love poetry book is the best takeaway from the entire reading journey. As a senior citizen, I am not much into romance genre these days but I definitely liked the subtle depth of feelings perforating deep inside Shankar's poetic realm. Especially his experimentation with intermixing different global poetry styles caught my attention. Rubaiyat is very uncommon in English literature to the best of my knowledge. His daring effort is commendable. I will like to quote a couplet from his collection:- "You smiled at me: A hypnotic smile  Sent me into raptures; I can't forget in my life." The only genre missing in the list is probably Haiku. May be we can expect a full length Haiku collection from him next in the go? Overall, I will rate the book as 4.2*/5* and highly recommend for a fine

A life which has no complications with the pre-paved path? Or the one that calls for your customisation with inner peace? If you think former is better as it provides expected results, then you need to dig this semi-dystopian novel.  This is a story about boy Anicetus who have always struggled to cope with his fathers plans for his career. He gets into a great institute called Central Intelligence Institute and thereby he joins the soccer team. From here the story navigates and the vast possibilities of his life.  This is a heartbreaking memoir which has a tremendous loss for a person - the leanings and comforts for the societal status and lifestyle. This book i

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book.** ** Thanks to our reviewer Amita Sehrawat for reviewing the book on behalf of #Literoma. ** Genre: Romance Category: Poetry Language: English Count: 45 poems As mentioned on the cover page, it is a collection of love poems. There are 45 short poems which includes sonnet, Tanka, Acrostics, Ode, Rubaiyat, Rondeau, Triolet, Minute poem, Ghazal and a few more. The cover page I found a little average and could have been much more attractive and romantic. The title - “Lady In Red”, is based on one of the poems from the book. The very fact that these are live poems attracted me to the book. The poems are mostly love struck and depict the feelings of man towards his lady love. The language and choice of words is very simple and that makes the rhyming lines easy to interpret. Although I am all ears and eyes for love stories, at a certain point, I felt too much of it! The author did added a few poems about betra

** Thanks to the author for sharing a review copy of the book.** ** Thanks to our reviewer Swapna Peri for reviewing the book on behalf of #Literoma. ** Format: Paperback/Kindle Edition Genre: Fiction/Dystopia/Young Adult Pages: 261 Book Title: The title of the book ‘ Golden Wings ‘ is inspiring and different. Book Cover: The cover image of the book is plain blunt black colored with the title on it. If only the book had a nice cover image, it would have been nice. Plot: Did you anytime get suffocated with the life you live because it is monotonous? Did you anytime think that what if there was another world than the one you are living? Did you anytime experience that you are being caged and your thought process is controlled by other forces? Well, in the story the protagonist Anicetus encounters similar feelings and hence the story gets weaved. What I like: 1. The abstract type of storytelling 2. The concept of preprogrammed minds among children is explained well

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book.** ** Thanks to our reviewer Sneha Thakur for reviewing the book on behalf of #Literoma. ** I really loved and cherished this collection of love poem by Shankar Kashyap. This is collection of love poetry like no other. There are forty five poems composed in different formats to suit the mood of the poem - Sonnet, ballad, Ode, Villanelle and Tanka. or those interested in Persian poetry, there are many in the form of Ghazals and Rubaiyat too. Each poem is full of love,in some poems where there is a longing for lost love . Some portray happiness of new found love.one poem told the tale of two lovers who fall in love only to find the lover gone and the girl spent her life waiting for him to come back. There is a poem for every occasion and every mood . This collection is truly beautiful and a comfort read for not only for them who enjoys a good poetry, but also for them who read poem occasionally. A comfort read !! M

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book.** ** Thanks to our reviewer Reetwika Banerjee for reviewing the book on behalf of #Literoma. ** Forty five poems of forty five different moods and sixteen different types by one poet Dr. Shankar Kashyap - that's what defines this book 'Lady in Red' in a nutshell. And I am sure that does not depict the creative magnificence of the author in the making of such a splendour. Even the book cover has his poetic touch. You name any form of world poetry, it has found a place in this book; be it popular ones like Ballad, Sonnet, Ode or Ghazal. Even genres not so commonly practiced by Indian poets like Rubaiyat, Villanelle, Tanka, Acrostics, Lay and Luc Bat also find a strong foothold in Dr. Kashyap's 'Lady in Red'. Each of the poems have its own magical impact. To quote Dr. Kashyap from the title Ghazal, "She is standing there in the middle of a field of violets Stands out my ruby queen; No

** Thanks to the author for sharing a review copy of the book.** ** Thanks to our reviewer for reviewing the book on behalf of #Literoma. ** Well what to say about this book? Right from the book title, book cover, innovation, language quality, choice of poetic styles, daring experimentation - the book left me engrossed in it's totality. After a very long time, I read an English poetry book of this quality. I must congratulate the author for gifting modern literature such a classy masterpiece.  Coming to the book's aspects - title 'Lady in Red' coupled with an equally mysterious book cover created an immediate impact on my mind. When a poet himself brushes the canvas what can stop it to make an awesome read? Of the forty five, I personally liked the poems 'Heart of Stone', 'The Kiss', 'Black haired maiden' and 'Lover's Tale'. Overall I will not be able to rate it anything less than 5*/5* and highly recommend to poetry lovers.

** Thanks to the author for sharing a review copy of the book.** ** Thanks to our reviewer for reviewing the book on behalf of #Literoma. ** Format: Paperback/Kindle Edition Genre: Fiction/Dystopia/Young Adult Pages: 261 Anicetus is an interesting character indeed. Apart from being a young daring fellow, he has multidimensional shades in his life just like the author himself. Is he a shadow of Srijoy? Now that can be a little nosy question, rather not get into it. Coming to the overall novel, it's indeed a wonderful effort for a young lad of just 23 years. I read one of his interviews where he said that he lives in a Mini Cooper and am I to believe that? The kind of hardships he has voluntarily chosen to give shape to his debut novel calls for a toast. Definitely, there are some improvement opportunities in the plot as well as in the overall book, but what came out from a debutante US born Bong guy is commendable. I wish him all the best for his future endeavours. My o

** Thanks to the author for sharing a review copy of the book.** ** Thanks to our reviewer Chitranshu Mandhar for reviewing the book on behalf of #Literoma. ** Format: Paperback/Kindle Edition Genre: Fiction/Dystopia/Young Adult Pages: 261 A semi-dystopian novel that revolves around a boy named “Anicetus” who dares to cross the walls of city he is living in and explore the things which perhaps none of his peers has experienced. The children in the city are taught few selected subjects which perhaps gives them no time to think about anything else and turn them subconsciously into slaves who never get the chance to see the real world; which is evident from the fact when Anicetus refers to tree as “pillar with branches and leaves” while talking to a girl who lives beyond the wall. The characters, the music, and the soccer are described with great verisimilitude. However, the book leaves readers with several questions like why a particular position for taking a test, why the ins

** Thanks to the author for sharing a review copy of the book.** ** Thanks to our reviewer Swapna Peri for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. ** Book Title: Travel Tales: DIARY #1: BENGAL ON WHEELS Author:  Reetwika Banerjee Format: Paperback & Kindle Book Title: The title of the book ‘ Travel Tales: DIARY #1: BENGAL ON WHEELS ‘ is very self-explanatory and interesting. Book Cover: The cover image of the book is the picture of the most infamously famous abandoned mosque near Kolkata. The image really intrigued me to read the book in one go. Inside the book: Since some days, I’ve been reviewing a few books recently where a city is in the foreground of the story but mostly in a fictional story. Most of the times it is either Mumbai or Delhi or Hyderabad. And because I have been to these cities, I could vividly picture the places and culture while reading the book. Though there are few fiction books I read that are set up in the city of Kolkata alone and not a

** Thanks to the author for sharing a review copy of the book.** ** Thanks to our reviewer Tee Kay for reviewing the book on behalf of #Literoma. ** After reading "The Humane Quest: Vol II" by Mehak Gupta Grover, I strongly feel to read its first volume and that is the magic of this book. The topic in itself is very catchy and also rare in the Indian titles. It is a welcoming change to see Indian writers penning these kind of books. I am sure Mehak is going to make it big in the years to come. There are around 21 articles on different relevant topics touching the humanuty fraternity. I really liked the pitching of "Cultural Massacre" and as a senior citizen I feel this is the high time when the younger generations should start thinking towards enhancing our humane spirits. Definitely, this book is a very good attempt towards that realm. Even an international bestseller has improvement opportunities and so is this one (mostly in terms of cover designing and

** Thanks to the author for sharing a review copy of the book.** ** Thanks to our reviewer Satabdi Mukherjee for reviewing the book on behalf of #Literoma. ** Book Title: The Humane Quest - Vol. II Author: Mehak Gupta Grover Format: Paperback When a book has such inspiring forewords as The Humane Quest (Vol-II), you know you are in for a special read. In terms of subject matter, the book does not disappoint. Mehak Gupta Grover deals with a wide variety of topics that challenge society and humanity today. The evergreen nature of the topics makes this book an ideal addition to your personal collection. I was particularly able to relate to "The Clash of Man and Machine" and "The New Millenials" since I have been grappling with these dilemmas myself. But don't assume that the other pieces are any less engaging. Universal topics such as Poverty, Child Trafficking, Water Predicament, and Climate Change are well fleshed out. Interestingly, Grover does not
