Golden Wings is the story of a high school student named Anicetus, a boy in early teenage who aspires to be the best student like his father. His hardships towards success summarize the plot of this novel.

My Take

The cover of the book is Plain black and in which " Golden Wings" are written In bold letters ,which I like as it's always intriguing to see what's inside the book. I prefer cover of the books as less revealing about story as much possible.

The story of the book is semi-dystopian that revolves around a boy named “Anicetus” and how his life shapes up . Like every teenager he had dreams and aspirations for his new school and future life. He get admission on CII (Central Intelligence Institute), which is portrayed as best school of city and he worked hard to pass the difficult admission test. He even get admission along with his friends. But soon he drifted apart from his friends, his studies, his goals and everything he held dear to him all his life .He even lost his interest in study and barely scored passed mark in weekly tests. The last nail was when he was thrown out from soccer team which is his proud and main reason to join school . He became disoriented and entered the prohibited area of city and soon started spending time with the people from that side. He found a girl who intrigued her and he loves to spend time with her.

The story started in a happy note and all the success of the " Anicetus" became our own. Soon he started feeling lost and depressed due to hectic routine of the school and monotonous lifestyle of home and school. He has pressure to become a successful lawyer like his father but soon it lost its charm too. We can easily relate to story . The narration is good and keep us hooked till end in anticipation of what's next. Whether he is gonna fail or pass, whether he is gonna behave like before.

Language is good and easy read. Overall a good read.

My Ratings: 4*/5*. A must read for all the parents and younger generation too so they would understand dilemma of their children.
