Book Review by #LITEROMA :: "Urmila" by Devi Raghuvanshi

I loved the way the author has highlighted the secondary character Urmila from Indian epic Ramayana. For us, it is always Ram, Sita and Laxman, Hanuman and Ravan - that's where Ramayana circles around for us. But without Urmila's supreme sacrifices, would it have been possible for Ram to win the fight? Probably not. But her life always went behind the lights as her husband did never recognize her contributions to the society.

In light of the epic, it also perhaps speaks a lot about the standing of common Indian households and family constructs which even today is to some extent is male dominated and male centered. Good to see the change coming from the pen of a male writer. I wish him all the best.

The literary quality could have been slightly better but I must appreciate the efforts and thoughts exhibited by the senior author. Wish to read more of his books in future.

My rating of the book is 3*/5*.
