Film Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘Hello Mamma’ by Euphoria Films (4th Review)

** Thanks to Euphoria Films for requesting us to review their new release. **

** Thanks to our reviewer Sohini Saha for reviewing the short film on behalf of Literoma. **

A short film that raises a very pertinent concern in today’s world where young graduates relocate far from their homes to work in tough corporate conditions at a very young age. They are not only far from their families and cultures that they are familiar with, but all alone in situations which they have never faced before like low cost housing or hostels. Without friends and family and struggling to fit into new cultures, they are often misunderstood and alienated. This film is about the problems of one such north Indian girl working in South India. Both view points of the North and South are brought out beautifully with an emotional twist as an eye opener.

Reetwika Bannerjee’s story “Maa, Are your listening?” is well chosen to highlight the trials faced by young professionals and the resulting depression when they are misunderstood and alienated within the workplace. Young actors Anupama Negi and Vineeth MV are both to be congratulated for their natural and restrained acting. Full credit to the production/direction team for making a movie that draws you into the story so effectively whilst sending out a strong social message in just over 8 minutes including credits. Literoma rates “Hello Mamma” 4.5*/5* and recommends to audience of any age group.
