Being a dedicated devoted of Maa Durga , I always wanted to read and understand Durga Saptasati in a language I understand. Sanskrit and Hindi are good but English is a language I am comfortable in.
This book is like an answer to prayer of all the devotee of Maa Durga .
Variously referred to as Chandipatha or Devi Mahatmyam, or Chandi-mahatmya, Sage Markandeya’s Durga Saptashati, composed in Sanskrit between 400-600 CE, though literally a tell-tale account depicting "the magnanimity of the Goddess Durga " is a devotional text wherein the Tridevi as Primordial Creator, Sustainer and Destroyer is extolled.
As Chandika, She is ferocious, infuriated, merciless and terrible but as Lakshmi, She is auspicious wealth, fortune, progress and prosperity, the substratum of beauty, wisdom, intelligence, consciousness and volition in all creatures. If you desire to be happy, peaceful, free of physical and mental ailments and protected against natural and man-made calamities and lead a successful life, reciting or just listening to Durga Saptashati with full devotion and concentration shall prove to be the unquestionable divine panacea.
This book is full of devotion and divine hymn and keep the essence of sanskrit version. You can feel a soul connection while reading this book. It took you to completely other world and make you feel connected to Maa Durga.
She is ferocious yet full of humanity.
I rate it 4*/5* and recommend it as a must read for all the devotees of Godess Durga!!
