When we pick a poetry book to read, it either composes of poems of an individual or combined verses of a group of poets. Musings of a Romantic is from an individual that starts with the explanation of various aspects of poetry structures and forms and about how it evolved over the ages, and its rhyming variety of poems and then comes up with Personal anthology of poems of different forms.

This is indeed profound and very helpful to know about its history rather to delight in the poems alone. It covers of Persian, western, Japanese, Chinese and the folklores which was followed for the ages and centuries. Author’s motto is quite appreciable as he intended to clear the queer before presenting his variety of poems which what makes this book very appealing to captivate the thoughts. So personally I found this as great effort as an enthralling one and let readers know more of the difference between Traditional and Modern poems.

Come to the poems, this book neatly narrates each and every global variety along with poems as the following. Haiku, Limerick, Narrative poem, Epic, Ballad, Idyll, Lays, Couplets, free verse, Ghazal etc. This will interest the read very intense and very well articulately infuses the poesy and let the readers experiment with its experiences of different cultures, emotions, tales and places etc. And how it liberates the passion of an individual through the writing the styles.

I love the poem on Homosapiens that instantly seized my attention. Usually, I used to like and read free verses, Narrative poems and will ignore rest. Right after reading this which is more than to refer it as a poetry book, I come to know volumes through this of how different poetry forms handles the rhyming, metric patterns, compositions of syllables and recital of tones etc.

My Ratings: 5*/5*. All in all, it will romanticise your different nuances of emotions.
