Upon seeing the full name of the book ‘Soul Stirrer: An Anthology of real-life stories’ by Ms. Alakananda Pramanik, the perception that majority of the readers will form instantly is it is just one of those books which tell some random stories from different walks of life.

Well! Wait a second. That’s where this book differentiates itself from other books of the genre. This is an anthology of ten different stories written by the extremely talented and versatile author Ms. Alakananda. True to its title this book tells real life stories from various corners of life. One common thread that connects all the stories is the simplicity. The storylines are simple, and the characters present in the stories are also simple. But these two simple components together form an extremely powerful content which no reader can ignore. All the characters who form the core storylines are extremely relatable and the way these characters had been portrayed by the author who is clearly gifted with an outstanding sense of vocabulary is simply mind-blowing.

It’s difficult to pick and choose any story from this wonderful collection. However, a couple of stories stand out in their own rights – the story of Rupali stirs you from the bottom of your heart while the story of Gopal instills back your faith on the superpower. We don't want to spoil the reading experience by discussing the story plots as part of this review.

There is hardly any room for improvement one can think of about this book. However, a slightly better cover design would have contributed more to the overall reading experience.

Overall, we would like to rate the book as 4.5*/5*. A must read for everyone as the book touches the soul and stirs the mind. The book is a perfect pick for your evening or bedtime read as the readers will not consume too much of time to complete the stories even though the stories will remain with the readers for very long to reflect and ponder.
