Book Title: Purgatory Voyage: Encountering Life After Death
Author: Adarsh Khare
Format: Kindle
Genre: Fiction (Religious & Spiritual)

‘Purgatory Voyage: Encountering Life After Death’ by Mr. Adarsh Khare is a an outstanding account of mythology and folklores, set in the backdrop of primeval time. It is a completely periodic work where the story dates back to 925 AD. The book describes the story of an era and belief, none of which are witnessed by any potential reader of the book in 2020 for sure. I too had not an iota of idea about the beliefs mentioned. Hence, the task of creating story scenes needed a gigantic effort and the author pulled it off well.

Kalidas is the protagonist who traversed this fantasizing journey named 'purgatory voyage' to a prolife world meeting Yamraj, his demi gods and other spirits in an unusual world. I am not going to disclose the storyline, else it will spoil the reading experience of others. Most important for me was how beautifully the journey is pinned by author, creating a bliss of fantasy and spirituality in reader's mind. I must congratulate author for scratching such a rare genre. But somehow, I felt the potential was huge which could not be properly encashed by Mr. Khare. I would have been happier to see the book in Fantasy shelf rather than a Spiritual read.

Talking about the areas of improvement – firstly, the cover & title could have been a lot better!! The periodic aspect is not getting completely captured. Secondly, professional editing could have made it a better read anytime. Thirdly, it conveyed a very preachy experience to me, which personally I did not enjoy much.

Overall, the unusual genre makes up for all shortcomings and undoubtedly it gave me a 4*/5* experience.
