#LITEROMA Book Review :: ‘Whispers of Ruins: Quest for Rama's Dossier’ by Navin Kumar

** Thanks to our reviewer for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. **

Seldom you find a book which touches history, mythology and crime fiction simultaneously with equal ease. ‘Whispers of Ruins: Quest for Rama's Dossier’ by Navin Kumar is one such rare example. Since the scenes are set at varied locations, the reader will tend to strike an immediate visualization with the protagonists. Let me tell our first observation here - the very title is so captivating that we could not stop reading it till the end in one shot. Yes, you read it correct. A 300 pager completed over a single night! That tells a lot about the pace, quality of plot and storytelling style of Navin Kumar.

Can't disclose much about the storyline here (the blurb on Amazon is good enough), but one thing we must say - Ever since the story starts unfolding, the readers will be embarked on a modern crime fiction plot, tightly rivetted to historic & mythological events. It starts with Chamundi Hill of Southern India and travels to international locations like Heidelberg Castle and where not! Evidently, the author has travelled a lot and the traveller's detailing could be easily perceived from his cinematic descriptions.

Coming to the book cover, perhaps it is the lone scope of improvement in our eyes. Compared to the gripping contents, the cover hardly speaks half of it. A fantasy animation cover with key incidents or characters from the novel would have snatched a 5* review from us. No wonder, a slightly better attempt would have made it to our 'Top 10 Featured Books of the Year' laurel.

We would like to wish Mr. Navin Kuman, the author, all the very best for his future writing stint. A must-read for anyone who is looking out for some solid thrill & suspense amidst the present, ongoing testing phase of the world.

Our overall rating: 4.5*/5*.
