Book Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: "Larking Skylark" by Asha Nair

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book. ** ** Thanks to our dear reveiwer Ms. Reetwika Banerjee for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. ** 'Larking Skylark’ is a beautiful poetry book where every word has been well penned and effectively moulded to create an instant magic in reader's mind. I, personally being a relationship empowered person, have cherished reading almost all the poems published in the book. Some of my personal favourites are Gift from God, Edge of togetherness, Love yourself, What's motherhood all about, The larking skylark and O bird of hope. The book indeed speaks a lot about the author's deep feelings and emotions surrouding her different relationships, especially father. I will look forward to read more of her books in future. Wish Asha all the very best. As an improvement suggestion I would recommend her to try out a different editor for her next books as professional editing plays a big role to create a smo...

Film Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘Hello Mamma’ by Euphoria Films (4th Review)

** Thanks to Euphoria Films for requesting us to review their new release. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer Sohini Saha for reviewing the short film on behalf of Literoma. ** A short film that raises a very pertinent concern in today’s world where young graduates relocate far from their homes to work in tough corporate conditions at a very young age. They are not only far from their families and cultures that they are familiar with, but all alone in situations which they have never faced before like low cost housing or hostels. Without friends and family and struggling to fit into new cultures, they are often misunderstood and alienated. This film is about the problems of one such north Indian girl working in South India. Both view points of the North and South are brought out beautifully with an emotional twist as an eye opener. Reetwika Bannerjee’s story “Maa, Are your listening?” is well chosen to highlight the trials faced by young professionals and the resulting depression when...

Book Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: "My Mute Girl Friend" by Himanshu Rai

Thanks to the author for sharing a review copy of the book. The author being a telecom professional himself has carefully drawn the protagonist's character with due perfection. Readers could easily find author's shadows in Rohan. Storytelling is very simplistic written using easy English words. Only grey area which did not appeal at all is the book cover. The title fonts chosen, the theme, colour combination etc - nothing fit Srishti Publisher's standard. Author must plan to focus more on this aspect in his next books as cover and title display play an important role in any reader's mind. Overall Literoma rates it as 3.1*/5* and recommends for a passing read.

Book Review :: ‘Nature Anthology’ Compiled & Edited by Subrata Bandyopadhyay (1st Review)

** Thanks to our reviewer Sabyasachi Mukherjee for sharing a lovely review of the book. ** Thanks to Literoma Publishing Services and Editor for gifting a review copy of the book. Anthology is a genre which I personally like to read whenever I get some time. Reasons being it carries a wide range of interpretation of the topic and various flavor of those mellows. Nature by itself is a diverse topic. I am an avid admirer of the diversity of nature. May it be of the Nature around us or the Nature within us I like it most when it’s full of diversity. So I was wondering with the book in my hand will it be as diverse as I find nature. Going through the pages of this anthology I was spell bound on how many different flavors and glimpses and mellows of nature is captured within the covers. Worth appreciating would be the diaspora of thoughts of authors who themselves has come from various diverse geography, ages, gender, socio economic background and walks of life and also the creativi...

Book Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘Hangover’ by Shilpi

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book. ** 'Hangover' is the debut book by a management professional turned a homemaker turned an author named Shilpi. The protagonist Sneha's life closely shadows the author in herself through her expressions, poems, Bryan Adam favourites, shayaris and so on. Positives:- 1. As they say, “Never judge a book by its cover”. ‘Hangover’ is one of those books which tend to change your take about the saying. As a reader, one will be tempted to defy the saying and love the cover of its book. The content mostly lives up to the expectation set by the cover. 2. The book is very slim making it a good one-sitting read. 3. Unlike other novels, it is written mostly in a conversational note and thus can be easily understood by any passing reader. 4. Language used is also very simple and easy to grab. 5. Plot is nothing new, but a good try of age old concept of lost love. Areas of Improvements:- 1. Proofreading and edi...

Book Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘The Harappa Trilogy : Lure of Soma, Fall of Shuruppak & Battle of Ten Kings’ by Dr. Shankar N Kashyap (10th Review)

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the trilogy.** ‘Harappa trilogy’ is a wonderful gift from respected author Dr. Shankar Kashyap to his readers. The trilogy comprises of three books titled ‘The Lure of Soma’, ‘The Fall of Shuruppak’ and ‘Battle of Ten Kings’. The story that starts in ‘The lure of Soma’ goes to the next level in the book ‘The Fall of Shuruppak’ and finally comes to a logical closure in the final book ‘Battle of ten kings’. The story is told through the eyes of the protagonist Upashantha. It’s, in essence, is the journey of Upashantha in search of the unknown driven by the thirst of knowledge. He is joined by his dear wife Lopa and other companions in due course of the exploration. Firstly, many authors in the recent past have explored the idea of working on non-canonical adaptation of Hindu mythology and Vedic literature. However, what sets this trilogy apart from the rest of the available works is the fact that it explores a less explored a...

Book Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘Harappa - 3: Battle of Ten Kings’ by Dr. Shankar N Kashyap (9th Review)

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book. ** History and mythology act as the account of multiple battles and war – some are well known and some are less. Many authors attempted writing on the well-known episodes of history but there are hardly a handful of them (with no intention of demeaning their efforts) who attempted writing something on the less known battles and war which changed the way history has been told. Dr. Shankar Kashyap in this particular book ‘Battle of Ten Kings’ which happens to be the third book of his Harappa trilogy attempts to explore one such battle which changed the fate of entire world for the coming thousand of years. The book narrates one of the less discussed battles from the pages of holy Rigveda which itself is one of the toughest vedic literary instance. One way of looking at the book is from a purely historical and mythological standpoint. The other way of looking at it can be to understand the dynamics of a historic batt...

Book Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘Harappa - 1: Lure of Soma’ by Dr. Shankar N Kashyap (7th Review)

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book. ** ‘The Lure of Soma’ is the first of the Harappa trilogy written by veteran surgeon Dr. Shankar N Kashyap. In this book Dr. Kashyap guides us through the ageold Harappan culture with minute details as much as authentic character namings, their contemporary social construct, mindset, usual happenings, expectations and so on. As a reader, you will never feel that you have not experienced Harappan society in real world. Over the last few years this genre of writing has gained immense momentum and quite a few attempts have been made by handful of authors and filmm akers. However, only few of them could live up to the expectation of the readers. Dr. Kashyap's book somehow relates closely to a recently released title 'Harappa - Curse of the Blood River' by Mr. Vineet Bajpai. However, their distinct storylines define the respective courses. However, it points towards increasing focus on the topic for sure. D...

Book Review by LITEROMA PUBLISHING SERVICES :: ‘Harappa - 3: Battle of Ten Kings’ by Dr. Shankar N Kashyap (6th Review)

** Thanks to the author for gifting us a review copy of the book. ** ** Thanks to our reviewer Sabyasachi Mukherjee for reviewing the book on behalf of Literoma. ** 'Dasharajna - The Battle of 10 Kings' is the third and final book of the Harappa Trilogy series by Dr. Kashyap. The reality has been beautifully molded to a totally different story with help of Author's research on Harrapan Civilization, interpretation of Rigveda and also to some extent celluloid adaptation of the Age. This part flags off with the well-known rivalry and battle between Sage Vashishta and Sage Vishwamitra over Kamdhenu. Author in his own captivating manner goes on to tell the story of an epic battle between Sudas of Bharatas and Cayamana of Anus leading the confederacy of ten disgruntled kings. Every scene of the book is well written and the author has done a fabulous justice to the length of the book in that term. The battle scene at the sage’s hermitage, to the forest scene or the scen...
